This Week’s Focus

Venturea faces a shrinking domestic opportunity and needs a credible international expansion plan. Your project team will evaluate eight proposals, reimagine two, and design a third. Use financial analysis, country evidence, cultural understanding, and entry-mode choices to explain how your plan could help the company survive.

Round 1 · Initial Analysis

Team project launch · Evaluate the eight original scenarios

Venturea’s International Pivot

Begin with the executive conversation to understand why Venturea needs an international rescue plan. Appoint a team lead and scribe, then evaluate all eight original proposals.

Read the Initial Executive Conversation
  1. Identify the source figures and entry mode for each scenario.
  2. Manually calculate five-year revenue, costs, and net profit. The workspace calculates margins and ROI from your entries.
  3. Check entries for errors, explain your recommendations, and submit the team synthesis.
Look beyond recurring revenue. Account for setup costs and ongoing expenses before deciding whether a proposal can help secure Venturea’s future.

Teammates may divide scenarios across laptops using the same section, team, and access code. Save each assigned scenario and refresh to review the combined work.

The Second Executive Conversation

The Conversation Redux

The original proposals have reached executive review. Elliot challenges whether their returns and payback can secure Venturea’s future, and Miriam must rethink the plan. Read this conversation before redesigning the scenarios.

Round 2 · Redux & Summary

Reimagine two proposals · Design one new proposal

Build Venturea’s Rescue Plan

Reimagine two distinct original scenarios and create one entirely new scenario for Zandora, Brayland, Noveria, or Eryndor.

  1. Rework the entry mode, setup costs, recurring costs, revenue, or royalty assumptions.
  2. Explain the mechanisms behind setup changes, cost containment, and revenue improvements.
  3. Review the combined three-scenario summary and use it to build the executive presentation described in the right column.
Use AI to research realistic improvements. Explain how Venturea could achieve the revised results; attractive numbers alone are insufficient.

Complete and submit Round 1 first. Your instructor will open Round 2 in the shared workspace.

Team Presentation & Deliverables

PowerPoint deck · 10-minute executive presentation

Your 10-Minute Executive Presentation

Submit a PowerPoint deck and present to Venturea’s executive leadership team. You may open with the portfolio outcome or use it as your closing recommendation.

  1. Project outcome: Identify the two reimagined scenarios and the new scenario; explain why you selected them. State project-level five-year revenue and average payback.
  2. Individual scenario overview: For each scenario, include:
    • Setup fee
    • Recurring annual costs
    • Annual recurring revenue or one-time fee
    • Five-year total revenue
    • Five-year total costs
    • Net profit over five years
    • Profit margin
    • ROI
    • Payback period
  3. Detailed explanation: Compare original and restated figures. Explain entry-mode changes, partnerships, cost reductions, revenue drivers, royalty logic, and supporting calculations.
  4. Country fit and execution: Address market potential, cultural and sociopolitical factors, specific risks, and mitigations. Explain why the new scenario is distinct.
  5. Recommendation: Defend feasibility, the budget, the implementation sequence, and how the plan supports Venturea’s future. Cite research and disclose how AI was used and verified.

Suggested pacing: 1 minute for the problem and outcome; 6 minutes for three scenarios; 2 minutes for risk and execution; 1 minute for the recommendation.

Presentation Example

The contest compares higher five-year revenue and shorter average payback among instructor-approved portfolios. If different teams lead on the two measures, the console identifies the tradeoff for executive judgment rather than inventing a combined score. High forecasts still require defensible evidence.
Looking ahead: Week 15 is the Four Lands Showcase. Your team will present its three-scenario recommendation to Venturea’s executive leadership, explain project-level revenue and payback, and defend the evidence behind your choices. Upload one PowerPoint deck per team through the assignment’s upload feature before class; teams that fail to upload before the showcase are disqualified, and all team members receive a 0 for the showcase assignment.
