INT 220 • Week 6 • Asynchronous Activity

Four Levels

A CSR Response Lab: classify business behavior, then apply the four levels of social responsibility to Venturea decisions.

The CSR Response Ladder

Organizations can respond to social and environmental expectations at different levels. Your task is to distinguish among four common approaches and then apply them to business situations.

Level 1 • Least Responsible

Obstructionist

A firm does as little as possible to address social or environmental problems and may attempt to avoid responsibility.

Level 2

Defensive

A firm does what is legally required of it, but nothing more.

Level 3

Accommodative

A firm meets ethical and legal requirements and goes further in selected cases.

Level 4 • Most Responsible

Proactive

A firm actively seeks opportunities to contribute and exhibits a high degree of social responsibility.

How this works: Each question remains on screen while four possible answers appear one at a time. You may click an answer while it is displayed, or wait until all four have been shown and select A, B, C, or D. If you do not select an answer, the choices will begin again. The correct response remains available, but some incorrect alternatives may change and the letter positions may be reshuffled.
Who is Venturea?

Venturea is the renewable-energy company used throughout the Four Lands project. Some questions ask you to apply CSR concepts to decisions Venturea might face in an international market.
